EEC ระเบียงเศรษฐกิจพิเศษภาคตะวันออก โดยมี EECi เป็นเขตนวัตกรรม ขับเคลื่อนให้พื้นที่ EEC เป็นพื้นที่ต้นแบบในการนำนวัตกรรมเข้าไปผลักให้เกิดอุตสาหกรรมใหม่ที่ใช้เทคโนโลยีขั้นสูงและปรับฐานอุตสาหกรรมเดิมในพื้นที่ให้เป็นอุตสาหกรรมที่มีฐานนวัตกรรมและอยู่ร่วมกับชุมชนได้อย่างยั่งยืน โดยมุ่งเน้น 6 อุตสาหกรรมเป้าหมาย ได้แก่ 

     1. เกษตรสมัยใหม่และเทคโนโลยีชีวภาพ

     2. เชื้อเพลิงชีวภาพและเคมีชีวภาพ

     3. แบตเตอรีประสิทธิภาพสูงและขนส่งสมัยใหม่

     4. ระบบอัตโนมัติ หุ่นยนต์ และอิเล็กทรอนิกส์อัจฉริยะ

     5. เทคโนโลยีการบินและอวกาศ

     และ 6. เครื่องมือทางการแพทย์
